William Morris, a 19th century British designer and poet, envisioned a utopia that we can overlay onto our near future, expressing the beauty of handmade craftsmanship and the harmony with nature.
Since the Industrial Revolution, what we call ” design” has brought about a convenient and prosperous life, but it has also created labor exploitation, fragmentation of the manufacturing process, and the separation between nature and humans.
Now, “design” should not be a tool for the politics, religion, or capital, but should expand its role as an art for restoring the relation between nature and humans and regaining the joy of labor through beautiful handicrafts.
we remember we are a part of nature, and hope to live with the joy of new creation.

Yasuta Veneered Surfaces & Design 「News form Nowhere」
William Morris, designer e poeta britannico del XIX secolo, ha immaginato un’ utopia che possiamo sovrapporre al nostro futuro prossimo, esprimendo la bellezza della lavorazione artigianale e l’ armonia con la natura.
Dalla Rivoluzione industriale, quello che chiamiamo “design” ha portato a una vita comoda e prospera, ma ha anche creato lo sfruttamento della manodopera, la frammentazione del processo produttivo e la separazione tra natura e uomo.
Ora, il “design” non dovrebbe essere uno strumento per la politica, la religione o il capitale, ma dovrebbe espandere il suo ruolo come arte per ripristinare il rapporto tra natura e uomo e riconquistare la gioia del lavoro attraverso bellissimi prodotti artigianali.
Ricordiamo che siamo parte della natura e speriamo di vivere con la gioia della nuova creazione.

本年の展示のテーマは「News from Nowhere」。19 世紀のイギリスのデザイナーであり詩人であるウイリアムモリスが描いたユートピアを私たちの近未来に重ね合わせます。
産業革命以降、「デザイン」は便利で豊かな生活を人々にもたらした一方で、労働力の搾取や製造プロセスの断片化、そして自然と人間の分断をも生み出してきました。もはや「デザイン」は国家や宗教、資本の為の装飾ではなく、自然と人間の関係を修復し、また美しい手仕事による労働の喜びを取り戻すための術として、新たなるビジョンとともにその概念を拡げていくべきであると私たちは問いかけます。
人々が創造の喜びに生きること。そして私たちは自然の一部であることを見失わないことを祈ってここに私たちのメッセージを発信します。
